This Dorm Safe Security Cable and Padlock is  the preferred method to secure dorm room safes to dorm furniture/bed frames.  Cable is 1/4" thick and the widest point, the "head" that has a hold to receive the padlock,  is 5/16" thick.
Note: First Alert Safes may require slight widening of the pre-drilled holes to fit this thicker more secure cable.
